The LEADER Strategy for Sustainable Transformation in Health Care Delivery

To share

The LEADER framework was developed to impact populational health by guiding structural and strategic projects in healthcare.  The purpose behind this framework is summarized in: “introducing an easy to be remembered, followed and implemented by medical and non-medical managers who are working to redefine care systems worldwide to create social impact, by increasing population health”.   With this in mind, the acronym L-E-A-D-E-R emerged:

L – Leadership and Care Integration

E – Effective Agreement

A – Accurate Outcomes Data

D – Data Measurement

E – Evaluation of Impact

R – Risk Mitigation

The theory of value in healthcare and the experience in implementing strategic and transformational initiatives in this business environment was the heart of the introduction of this easy-to-be-remembered and followed acronym. During the process of consolidating the LEADER we agreed that developing those projects in healthcare requires the participation of multiple stakeholders, and because of that, establishing a SHARED Leadership is extremely important. It is how we can deal with the conflict of interest and keep the purpose of all initiatives of improving population health.

In the real world of projects, making it happen involves the use of Effective agreements and standardized Evaluation processes to confirm that what is being developed is really impacting healthcare access, efficient use of resources, and increasing value to society. This is how we can mitigate the Risk of driving new strategies in healthcare only for the financial sustainability of part of the stakeholders and not for the MAIN purpose of healthcare organizations, which may have individuals’ health as the central goal.  With the technological advances we have today, achieving that is only feasible by using Accurate real-world and real-time Data that represent well specific care pathways and patients’ conditions.

The LEADER framework has served as the background for several PEV Consulting strategic projects, and we do believe it can help teams to lead impactful healthcare value-driven projects worldwide.
